Debra Miesle, Director IT Operations
Debra Miesle is Director, Information Technology (IT) Operations for VetFed Resources, Inc., a Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB). Ms. Miesle leads the company’s IT Operations efforts in support of healthcare and emergency preparedness. She brings to VetFed twenty-five years of leadership experience, primarily in the areas of Healthcare IT program management and support.
Ms. Miesle served three years as an Army Finance Officer and over 18 years as an Air Force Medical Service Corps, Information Management and Technology Officer. Her private sector experience includes a position as a staff computer programmer (1993) and a position in IT Management in Higher Education (2014-15).
Throughout her military career, Ms. Miesle led multi-disciplinary IT projects supporting healthcare operations. She held CIO positions at the hospital and Regional Command levels and served five years at Air Force Headquarters as the Chief, IT Services Division for the Medical Support Agency. As Division Chief, she successfully led healthcare IT services and end-user support programs for all Air Force hospitals, clinics, and medical education & staff facilities. Her significant responsibilities included upgrading cabling and network electronics, installing the first wireless infrastructure in five Air Force hospitals, integrating health IT support with Air Force Network Operations Centers, and establishing concept of operations plans for multiple efforts including a centralized medical IT help desk.
In 1999, Ms. Miesle was recognized as the Air Force Medical Information Systems Officer of the Year for her team’s IT efforts at the Mike O’Callaghan Federal Hospital. She holds an MBA in Business Administration and an MS in Information and Communication Sciences.
